Adam Ginsberg: eBay Countdown…Are You Ready?

Don’t you hate when someone outbids you at the last minute? So, you “up your bid” and now you’re the high bidder…

YES! You’ve won the auction!

eBay Countdown is now available - a cool new tool that works in conjunction with Internet Explorer or Firefox to let you watch eBay auctions that are part of your My eBay activity.

For example, say you find that perfect Men’s Citizen Watch. You add it to your Watch list, where you eye it over the next several days. After finding the perfect occasion to wear it, you place a proxy bid. That’s the top price you’re willing to pay. The current price is well under your proxy bid for now, but as others nibble away at the listing, the price goes up. You’re not worried, because eBay is placing bids for you on your behalf (and will continue to do so, as needed, until your proxy bid price is met).

Days later, the listing is coming to an end. You’re the high bidder. eBay Countdown shows you a timer that counts rapidly downward, ticking off each second until the listing ends. While you’re waiting, you can gaze at the bottom of the Countdown window to see pictures of other listings, such as those in your Saved Searches. (I personally love that feature because I can do some productive shopping while I’m waiting!) If you see that someone places a bid that finally beats yours, you can quickly place another bid with just one click: another great Countdown feature!

Okay, so this isn’t exactly a video on how to make money on eBay… So, what’s it doing on this site? Well, it’s actually a funny pictorial video of Weird Al’s eBay song. There’s quite a few of these available on YouTube, but this one is my favorite so I thought I’d pass it along here.

At our seminars, where we teach people to make money on eBay, we play this video. Many of our students have asked where they could find this specific video online - so, here it is!

Having met Adam Ginsberg at a Marketing Madness seminar hosted by Matt Back, Lori W. has become a real success story. Lori is making money on eBay selling all sorts of items including Real Estate. Recently someone asked, “How can Lori make money on eBay if she doesn’t have thousands and thousands of feedback?”.

While that’s a great question, it’s clear that it comes from someone that does not make money on eBay. In Real Estate, many of items sold are in the classified listings catetory, which results in no feedback between the buyer and the seller - eBay is simply used as a marketplace from which the transaction is created. In essence, eBay Real Estate becomes a huge source of lead generation, enabling buyers and sellers to find each other and ultimately transact with each other.
